This bronze statue of Monty Python legend Terry Jones, proud Welshman and born in Colwyn Bay, was crowd funded by fans around the world and unveiled in April 2026. Sitting on the Promenade next to the sands of Colwyn Bay Beach, the statue is FREE to view and visitors can get up close to the incredibly detailed, life size bronze.

 

Depicting Terry as ‘The Nude Organist’ from his groundbreaking 1960’s TV series Monty Python’s Flying Circus, it was created by Llandudno based sculptor Nick Elphick. As well as Terry’s likeness the statue features the classic Hammond organ which morphs into Terry’s own writing desk, featuring lots of references to his children’s stories, hand drawn storyboards for the famous Python films, along with the everyday objects that he kept to hand. There are over 20 references to different aspects of Terry’s multifaceted career, see how many you can spot!

 

Visitors to the statue are able to sit next to Terry on his piano bench and take their photo. Please tag #apythonontheprom when sharing on social media.
