About

A large, sandy bay backed by dunes and overlooked by Conwy Mountain. Great for walks, views and escaping the crowds.

What can I do on Conwy Morfa Beach?

The wild expanse of Conwy Morfa Beach is the perfect place to get away from it all for a tranquil seaside experience. The beach, although popular, is big enough to accommodate all visitors and it never feels crowded. You can explore the dunes and shingle foreshore or wander the wide, sandy beach at low tide. With just the whistle of the breeze, the sound of waves and the call of the seabirds, it’s a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay - even though it’s just a short drive!

In the spirit of getting back to nature, there are few amenities here, although they can be found at nearby Conwy Marina. This busy little port has a pub and shop to rest and refuel after your Conwy Morfa coastal escape.

This expansive stretch of golden sand is beautiful but deceptive; situated where the Conwy Estuary meets the Irish Sea, the tides are unpredictable and the currents are strong. Please read the safety signs at the beach entrance and familiarise yourself with local hazards. Paddling and swimming are not advised on Conwy Morfa Beach.

How do I get here?

Conwy Morfa Beach is accessible by car from the A55; there is limited free parking at the beach. It is possible to walk from Conwy town or railway station to the beach along the Wales Coast Path. For cyclists, National Cycle Route 5 passes nearby. There are paths through the dunes but they may not be suitable for individuals with mobility issues, wheelchairs or prams.

Can I walk my dog on Conwy Morfa Beach?

Conwy County is proud to be a dog-friendly destination but there are restrictions on where and when you can walk your dog on the beach. Some beaches welcome dogs all year round but many do not allow them (except for registered guide dogs and assistance dogs) between the 1st May - 30th September and some prohibit dogs all year round. To check for dog restrictions on Conwy Morfa Beach, click here.

Whatever the restrictions, we encourage you to ensure your dog is always under control, both on and off the lead. We also ask that you pick up after your dog as it is an offence not to. Lastly, dispose of dog waste in a convenient litter bin.
