Close to the resort centre but often much quieter than its famous sibling, North Shore Beach, this beach offers a more relaxed day at the seaside in Llandudno.

What can I do on West Shore Beach?

West Shore Beach offers stunning mountain views of the Carneddau and Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and boasts gently sloping sands, a short promenade, a children’s play area, outdoor gym and miniature train. There’s also a charming Victoria boating lake with friendly ducks and the occasional swan! Oh, and did we mention, West Shore is arguably one of the best sunset spots in North Wales?

This expansive stretch of golden sand is beautiful but deceptive; situated where the Conwy Estuary meets the Irish Sea, the tides are unpredictable and the currents are strong. Please read the safety signs at the beach entrances and familiarise yourself with local hazards. Always check the tide times and do not wander too far out.

How do I get here?

You have lots of options when visiting West Shore. It’s just 15 minutes’ walk on the flat from Llandudno town centre but you can also buy a ticket and hop on the Land Train which runs daily between North and West Shore (during summer months). The beach has ample free parking and there is also a pay and display car park adjacent to the West Shore Beach Café.

West Shore Beach is an e-bike charging and maintenance stop - cyclists travelling along the coast of Conwy can make use of dedicated e-bike facilities at a number of convenient points along National Cycle Route 5. Provided by Conwy County Borough Council, the facilities are designed to support people using electric bikes for leisure, commuting and longer journeys along the coast.

Can I walk my dog on West Shore Beach?

Conwy County is proud to be a dog-friendly destination but there are restrictions on where and when you can walk your dog on the beach. Some beaches welcome dogs all year round but many do not allow them (except for registered guide dogs and assistance dogs) between the 1^st May - 30^th September and some prohibit dogs all year round. Whatever the restrictions, we encourage you to ensure your dog is always under control, both on and off the lead. We also ask that you pick up after your dog as it is an offence not to. Lastly, dispose of dog waste in a convenient litter bin.
