A beach of two halves, Penrhyn Bay Beach nestles between the headland of the Little Orme and the harbour village of Rhos-On-Sea. Here you’ll find a picturesque, sandy bay at one end and rock pools at low tide at the other end. 

What can I do on Penrhyn Bay Beach?

The Coast Path and National Cycle Route run along the beach by way of the sea wall. This elevated walkway forms part of important coastal defences protecting low-lying residential areas but also makes for a scenic walk on the flat. There is designated on-street parking in several places, making Penrhyn Bay Beach (along the sea wall) easily accessible and a pleasant choice for a stroll.   

The sandy bay at the Little Orme end of the beach can be accessed on foot and protective sea defences have created a sheltered bay with gently shelving shingle, popular with locals and tourists. The rock pools at the Rhos-On-Sea end of the beach should be accessed with care at low tide. Always familiarise yourself with tide times and check weather conditions if attempting to access the beach. It is here you will also find St Trillo’s Church, believed to be one of the smallest churches in Britain. It’s well worth a visit if you are at the beach.  

How do I get here?

There is on-street parking at several points along the beach but please be considerate of residents when parking. This stretch of coastline forms part of the Wales Coast Path and National Cycle Route 5.

Can I walk my dog on Penrhyn Bay Beach?

Conwy County is proud to be a dog-friendly destination but there are restrictions on where and when you can walk your dog on the beach. Some beaches welcome dogs all year round but many do not allow them (except for registered guide dogs and assistance dogs) between the 1^st May - 30^th September and some prohibit dogs all year round. Whatever the restrictions, we encourage you to ensure your dog is always under control, both on and off the lead. We also ask that you pick up after your dog as it is an offence not to. Lastly, dispose of dog waste in a convenient litter bin.
