You will find this lovely beach between Colwyn Bay Pier and Rhos-on-Sea. Overlooked by the expansive green crescent of the Cayley Embankment  - a great spot for photos - the beach is wide and sandy with shallow water.

This is another stretch of coast benefiting from a recent multi million pound waterfront redevelopment project. The project has completely transformed the beachfront between Old Colwyn and Rhos-On-Sea making this three-mile-long stretch of beach more popular than ever before with visitors.

What can I do on Colwyn Bay and Rhos-On Sea Beach?

The beach attracts a wide range of visitors from families to watersports enthusiasts. As part of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project, millions of tonnes of sand were ingeniously pumped from 20 miles offshore to plump and widen the beach.

The promenade itself has plenty of landscaped areas to sit and enjoy the views; there are also several play zones, a pirate themed crazy golf and kiosks selling refreshments and beach supplies. If you want to get out on the water you can hire watersports equipment in nearby Rhos-on-Sea, a charming seaside village with a wide range of shops and places to eat.

How do I get here?

Like its neighbour, Porth Eirias Beach, Colwyn Bay and Rhos-On-Sea Beach is accessible from the A55 and Colwyn Bay town centre and railway station, while National Cycle Route 5 continues its journey along the North Wales coast here, with a dedicated cycle path on the promenade. If you are travelling by car, there is pay and display parking along the length of the promenade.

Rhos-on-Sea/Colwyn Bay Beach is an e-bike charging and maintenance stop - cyclists travelling along the coast of Conwy can make use of dedicated e-bike facilities at a number of convenient points along National Cycle Route 5. Provided by Conwy County Borough Council, the facilities are designed to support people using electric bikes for leisure, commuting and longer journeys along the coast.

Can I walk my dog on Colwyn Bay and Rhos-On-Sea Beach?

Conwy County is proud to be a dog-friendly destination but there are restrictions on where and when you can walk your dog on the beach. Some beaches welcome dogs all year round but many do not allow them (except for registered guide dogs and assistance dogs) between the 1^st May - 30^th September and some prohibit dogs all year round. Whatever the restrictions, we encourage you to ensure your dog is always under control, both on and off the lead. We also ask that you pick up after your dog as it is an offence not to. Lastly, dispose of dog waste in a convenient litter bin.
